Happy Birthday, Trevor!

Okay, yeah it's been like 3 months since I posted on here. But it was a momentous occasion on Tuesday...Trevor turned 5!
On Friday we went to the zoo in Springfield. We had a good time and it totally wore Trevor out!
Here are the guys in front of the giant pumpkins.
Trevor and I thought this tree was really pretty...

This is Kirby. He was talking to us and then decided to show us how he eats! He was so cool and Trevor really liked him.

Trevor made me take a pic of this "vampire deer" as h called it...he said, "Just in time for Halloween, mom!" I have no idea if that is really it's tooth or a piece of food.

Posing on the tiger!

Birthday morning started out with Chocolate Chip Pancakes!!

Then we met up with Steve for lunch at the bowling alley. The rain held out so instead of bowling, I took Trevor to the park until Steve got off work. He LOVES these squirrels and wanted me to take a pic of his little buddy :)

Free birthday ice cream from Baskin Robbins!

He really made a haul this year with his presents, including this nice crisp $50 bill! This is really the only decent pic I got of him opening presents.

I made homemade mac and cheese for dinner upon Trevor's request. And he decided he wanted a donut for his birthday dessert. Here he is about to devour it!

All in all, Trevor had a great birthday weekend. We had a little party on Saturday for him...but I really didn't get any good pics from it.

The season sure is changing here and I hope to get Trevor out to get some *hopefully* decent pics that I can use for Christmas cards or gifts.

It's Been a While...

...but I am here with some pictures from the past couple weeks.
It has been HOT HOT HOT here...it is so humid that you can see the "fog"in the air pretty much all day long so even when it is cloudy it is still hot enough to play in the pool!
The fair was in town last weekend so of course we took Trevor since he is big enough for the rides. His first roller coaster ride...and he LOVED it!

He had to go on the carousel and he chose the zebra!

I gave him the choice between cotton candy and a sno-cone. It was really hot so of course he chose the "freezy freeze" as he called it :)

And last but not least, the bouncy house!

Hopefully this coming weekend will prove to be a good picture taking weekend. We have some stuff planned to celebrate the 4th of July, so it should be fun...as long as the weather holds out.

Mother's Day

I told Steve that I did not want anything for Mother's day other than a night out to dinner so I didn't have to cook. So we went to Ruby Tuesday on Saturday night and dinner was awesome!
Sunday morning the boys gave me cards...both were cute. Trevor insisted that the card Steve got me was "inappropriate for kids to see," to quote him.
We went to church, got some lunch at the food court in the PX, and came home to relax. I watched a movie while the boys played video games for a while. Then we decided to get out and enjoy some sunshine while we had it, so we went down to the stream below our house. This time Trevor got in and had some fun!
I love this pic even though his eyes are closed, his face just shows how much fun he was having!
Catching some air...

He loves nothing more than splashing around!

Steve talked him into swimming down the stream...

Then he tested his balance on this 2x4 that someone had laid across it.

We had a lot of fun and it was a really good Mother's Day!

Nature Walk

The weather was finally nice enough today for us to get out of the house. Even though everything is super wet and soggy from DAYS of rain, we decided to take a nature walk in these woods that are right behind our house.
In some of the ponds that have been made by all the rain, we saw a ton of tadpoles. Trevor thought it was so cool because we had just read about tadpoles. He wants to go back when they are supposed to be frogs, so I told him I would figure out how long that would be so we can go see if we can find frogs. Being the Fernwood girl I am, I caught one so he could get an up close look at one. As soon as I put it back in the water, the big momma frog came up and poker her head out of the water at me...I am pretty sure she was swearing at me for touching her baby.

We also so ALOT of deer tracks, some were fairly big. We saw turkey tracks too, but I didn't take any pics of those.

Trevor wanted to go find the deer so he could wrestle it and bring it home to eat :) This is his tough guy look.

Then he said, "Hey mom, get a picture of me hitting daddy!" Okay, I am all for that ;)

We had to change our clothes as soon as we got home because there was a lot of poison ivy growing out there...and we found a tick on Steve's leg. I caught him in a paper towel and threw him outside, and immediately took a shower, but I am now all paranoid about there being one in my hair.

We had a really good time, and the hike back up through the woods was no walk in the park, even Steve was out of breath! I am just glad we finally got to go do something!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a VERY Happy Easter! We had a good one! We started the day off with a couple gifts for Trevor, and that included Alphie. He has been asking for Alphie for what seems like forever! So I finally broke down and bought him.
Then we braved the soggy yard and the rain for an Easter Egg hunt in the yard. After that it was time for church. We came home and while I prepared stuff for dinner and dessert, Steve and Trevor spend hours in the basement playing video games. I got some good reading and girl movie time!
We haven't really done anything fun lately. It has been raining and stormy for the past week and it is supposed to stay that way until Thursday...ugh. Steve has a 4 day pass for next weekend so hopefully we can do something fun!

Our Windy Gardening Day

We decided to stay home today but had to get outside and enjoy the warmth. It was SOOO windy out though, we had gusts of almost 50 mph which made weeding quite interesting! Here is Trevor with this gardening gloves and tools, ready to go! Once I got everything pulled I figured it was time to give everything some water to see if we can get it all to perk up a little. Of course, Trevor volunteered to man the hose.

Here are some of the flowers on one of the bushes...I have no idea what they are.
Soon enough, watering the plants turned into watering himself...I don't blame him, it was hot out!
Another flower...Trevor insisted I take a picture of this one.
Of course we both had to change clothes after coming in because we were soaked! He ended up going back outside to blow bubbles on the back deck, then the boys played catch while I made dinner. I hope this nice weather sticks around!

Miller Cave

We finally had good weather, thank God! We have been itching to get out of the house and we decided to go find the cave that I had read about online. Here are Steve and Trevor at the entrance to the cave. Trevor thought this "window" was so awesome...the views were spectacular! The pond in a section that we had to crawl into...Trevor thought the log was an alligator. I hefted him up into this hole to take his picture, then told him we were going to move in and that could be his bed...he wasn't having that! Right after I got him out of the hole, a bat about 10 feet away started shrieking like crazy. I am not sure if he was mad that we were in there, or possibly because he was stuck behind the sign. Hiking back to the truck, almost to the top of the trail...it was a little scary below these stairs, super steep. I am glad that Trevor listens well enough or it could have turned out really bad.

It was a great day and I am sure we will go exploring again soon. Tomorrow Trevor is going to help me do a little gardening in the retaining wall planter...there is a lot of dead stuff that needs to be pulled so all the new growth can come in. I will be taking pics to share!

NEW PICS ARE HERE!!!

The past 7 weeks have really been a whirlwind. Here are a few pics to say goodbye to TX...
We had one REALLY nice week so we played outside a lot. Trevor is awesome at baseball and he can really hit.
And I don't know much about soccer, but he seems to have pretty good form while kicking the ball.

And here are the best buddies taking a break...
I took Trevor to the Railroad Museum with some friends in San Angelo and the kids had such a good time.
Trying to walk the tracks...he wasn't super successful :)
The last week in TX was cold, icy and snowy so it wasn't too different when we got to Missouri, but it was still COLD!
Trevor's first time sledding...he was really having fun!
Here is a shot of the back of the house...and Trevor zipping by on the sled.
And of course he had to try it on his belly, face first!
We haven't really done much lately so I haven't taken pics since we sledded. I will try to be better, but there isn't a whole lot that goes on. Next month I think we will be signing Trevor up for T-Ball, then possibly flag football.
Stay tuned...there's no telling what will happen next.

New Pics to Come

OKay...I have a camera full of pictures from the last six weeks. I just need to sit down and get them all loaded. It's too late tonight so I promise to do it before the weekend is over.

Christmas Pics!

Christmas pictures are finally here!
Here is Trevor all giddy because we were going on the annual Christmas lights tour at the river.
On Christmas Eve we let him open one gift, and it was a remote control truck! He said, "Just what I wanted! Sweet!" Thanks Grandma and Grandpa! He is such a ham with that cheesy grin!

He thought that this zipper pull that Grammy Cheryl got him to go with his snow gear was soooo cute with the little reindeer and his name...
"Mom his name is Trevor too!"
"No dude, he is just the decoration, and that is your name."
"Okay if you say so!"
Thanks Grammy!

Hey, Santa got me cookies!
"Hey, I wanted this game, I really really did!! Santa is good to me, mom!"
He also got the Tag reader he had been asking for EVERYTIME the commercial came on.
I wish I had got a good pic of him pulling out the cash that Papa sent him...it was good! I told him I would take him to the store so he could pick out whatever he wanted that the money would buy. He said he didn't want to though...maybe he will be a thrifty boy.
The first week of Christmas break was good for us. The second was not so great, since we were all sick at some point, and Trevor and I are still not feeling 100% better yet.
Here is hoping that 2011 will be a great year for everyone.
